James Kenichi Kamiya, 94, of Hilo died Sept. 16 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Kekaha, Kauai, he was retired from U.S. Army Civil Service Motor Pool Division and from the state Department of Education Maintenance Division, a U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Services held. No koden (monetary gifts). No flowers. Survived by wife, Elsie Kamiya of Hilo; daughters, Charlene (George) Nakashima of Volcano and Merlene (Ronald) Nitta of Hilo; brothers-in-law, Takeo Ishiki of Hilo, Takenobu (Hazel) Ishiki of California and Takemori (Yoshiko) Ishiki of Kukuihaele; sisters-in-law, Kikue (Takeo) Toma of Honokaa, Doris (Ray) Zlomke of California and Shirley (Hisashi) Araki of Kaneohe, Oahu; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Betty S.Y. Muramoto, 96, of Pearl City, Oahu, died Sept. 20 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hakalau, she was a homemaker. Kaoru Okamura, 87, of Pahoa died Sept. 22 in Keaau.
